Big Mistake... 200

Hi Phil,
I had the booster car running, then connected the wires to the battery. Then I got into the Volvo and started cranking. Nothing.

I got out and saw the crossed wires, re-connected and tried starting again. The car ran for a bit, but it wanted to die--I had to pump the gas pedal to keep it going. I tried letting it run on its own--I got out, the Volvo stalled, and that is all she wrote. I knew I had a weak battery, so I pulled it and replaced it. Now the Volvo cranks beautifully but nothing happens.
