Ignition Switch Question...not about how to remove it 120-130 1966

Yes - the armor on both of the units I have is good - I think both of them are fine actually, and I'd love to have it set up on the stock system...but like i said, when i did set it up the starter ran continually (don't want to also have to buy a new starter... while fixing the ignition) Is there an easy way to test the ignition/coil unit? I'm gonna play around with my multi-meter and try and figure out if t's the unit or the car wiring that's funky. And push button start is fine...seems silly to be trying to get back to stock when every thread recommends going pushbutton (which it already is)....if I park anywhere that someone might steal it I can always just take the distributor wire anyway...or tuck it away like your last 4-door - Thanks!
