740 GLE Won't Stay Running. 700 1988

I have a 1988 740 GLE (distributor in head) that has the motor out of a 1989 240 (distributor in block). The engine is a B230F. Problem is, last time I drove it the car drove fine and had no problems. Yesterday I went to start it and it will only start i I keep my foot on the gas. Also, if i rev the motor up to about 2000 RPM, the car runs rough and wants to die. The warmer the car gets, the higher I can rev it though. Got it to 3500 RPM.

I don't know where to start trouble shooting. I've had someone say it's a fuel pump and someone else said the timing jumped but none of the people are mechanically inclined or have ever owned one. Any help would be appreciated
