940 rear axle identification

Thanks Chris. The car was first registered in the UK on 28 March 1991, and manufactured in Belgium. So it could have been made in 1990 or early '91. The axle is original as well, as far as I know - I bought the car in 1995.

As for mileage I get around 25mpg if driven hard or around town, but driven gently and on a long run I can get 35-40mpg (or at least I could when the car was new - currently done about 300k miles). Don't forget that these are UK gallons - 4.54 litres, rather than US gallons. I think your miles are about the same distance as ours!!
