Aftermarket radio install (Not a rocket science...or is it?) 900 1992

I read all kinds of stuff here, and elsewhere, on how to add aftermarket radio to 1992 940T. Sorry to say, it left me all confused. Every write up is different. Nothing is clear. I plan on getting wiring harness with my new radio (Harness METRA 70-1120). It has two separated connectors with pig tails. Some instructions suggest I splice them together, where one connector would plug in the back of the new radio, and the other into female connector leaving a separate radio amplifier unit, presumably to feed the speakers and bypass the amplifier. . Well, what feeds the radio? Where does the power come from, what powers the antenna, etc.
Please, can someone explain this to me in simple terms. The reason I’m getting correct harness is because I don’t want to do too much splicing and dicing.
