right door handle clock position 1800 1972

It is the rotating chrome lever handle that has 3 slots in the insert base that fit into the door actuating mechanism. I believe that the guru was mistaken about the difference in the left and right handles because as I inspected it, there is no part # inscribed. How would a parts department be able to identify a left and right if there isn't a part number? Is it the actuating mechanism that has to be adjusted? My dilemma continues.
