Hi all,

Over the weekend, my 91 240, 245xxx miles, auto trans, was really lacking power. From a stop, getting the car going is next to impossible. No power whatsoever even when flooring the vehicle. All gears have this problem. Signs/Symptoms:

-Lack of power through all gears. Most noticeable when trying to really accelerate and push car (side passing for example)
-Cannot get car to go faster than 65. Not even possible.
-Deceleration/no change in speed in fourth gear at speeds pushing 65
-Strange sounding accelerating noise... almost sounds like bad exhaust
-Fuel Consumption - Getting around 14-15mpgs compared to usual 21-22 city
-No check engine lights, strange smells
-Runs fine at idle

We don't even know where to start. Any and all suggestions are welcome. We're stumped.
