New springs: stock or 1in. lower? 444-544

I'm looking to replace the springs on my 63 544 and I see that I now have the choice of stock or 1" lower. What I don't know is how much my springs are sagging currently. I have at least 250K on the car, plus the years, so I assume there is no way they aren't sagging. Is there a measurement that I can take that will let me know what the current ride height is compared to what stock should be? I'd like to know how much the stock springs would raise it up.
Or is it possible that the new 1" lower would actually still be higher than my old springs?
thanks!
Steve
