Hello everyone....noob 244 owner here, but loving her so far! Seriously one of the best cars I've owned, and it's only been a month so far. I have only been able to find threads that skirt the issues I'm having. Over all the brick is in great shape, just a few nagging things to address. First off, the central locking is something I discovered by accident as it never made itself known to me until I had the car about a week, stuck the key in to unlock and poof! All the doors in concert. I was amazed to learn such a feature even existed in 1982. Alas, it only performed that one time and hasn't responded since. The dome light then started to come on even with the doors closed and switch set to "door." Sometimes the door buzzer would perform intermittently in concert with the dome light, other times on its own. From what I've read around this site, all those functions seem to be tied together in a group. Initially It sounds like bad or worn connections / grounds. Should I start behind the drivers door panel at the hardware there? Or is there a big relay somewhere under the dash or footwell I should be looking at? All the fuses were checked and / or replaced the first day I got the car. Being that I have no manuals or schematics yet, I figured I would try here first.
As an aside, I have replaced all of the misc. mini bulbs in the dash and console that were burned out. The old bulbs were all 2W but all I could find were 1.5-1.9W from the auto store so installed the lower wattage rather than go the next step up, which was 2.5-4W and risk burning up wiring or fuses. The only problem is they seem pretty dark at night. Does anyone know what wattage bulb Volvo recommends?
