'89 245 B230F Distributor and Ignition Module questions 200

I went to drop a used distributor in today, and found that the original one is JUST a mechanical distributor.

Meaning - no pickups, coils nothing. There is no place where a connector would pass through the housing, so nothing has been deleted.

1) Was this a common distributor for 1989 ? Car is standard transmission.

2) I have a Bosch Ignition Amp/Control Module I want to replace. PN 0227100124.

While Bosch is my first preference, I'm wondering if anybody has had medium term success with Standard LX605 as an ICM ? (Listed on Rock Auto).

Rgds, D.
