Central locking 200 1982

"Could a faulty key switch on the passenger side (if it exists) contribute to the problem here?"

No, if you did as I suggested, then you have isolated the system from all the switches in the door, and there are only switches in the driver's door. To jump from there to conclude the relays are at fault is risky.

I think it is time for you to do some actual troubleshooting instead of following Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's precepts. :)

The most necessary tool for troubleshooting is the wiring diagram, which you have given no indication of finding as of yet. Again, look on k-jet.org. Use the 1985 drawing in TP30808-1, as it is identical with your 82's configuration, and pages 121-125 give details of the central locking well beyond what you find in the Mitchell maps. Expect to trace it to something that came loose behind the dash.

A wife was making a breakfast of fried eggs for her husband.Suddenly, her husband burst into the kitchen. 'Careful,' he said, 'CAREFUL! Put in some more butter! Oh my gosh! You're cooking too many at once. TOO MANY! Turn them! TURN THEM NOW! We need more butter. Oh my gosh! WHERE are we going to get MORE BUTTER? They're going to STICK! Careful. CAREFUL! I said be CAREFUL! You NEVER listen to me when you're cooking! Never! Turn them! Hurry up! Are you CRAZY? Have you LOST your mind? Don't forget to salt them. You know you always forget to salt them. Use the! salt. USE THE SALT! THE SALT!' The wife stared at him. 'What in the world is wrong with you? You think I don't know how to fry a couple of eggs?' The husband calmly replied, 'I just wanted to show you what it feels like when I'm driving.'
