Do Dana 30s ever wear out? 200

i have done half dozen 240 rear axles assemblies.

you will need to jack the rear end as high as is possible with out a lift

it is a straight forward job.

the shortcuts i have found are these:

leave brake calipers/lines attached and hang out of the way. you'll need to be creative since the springs are going. make sure the lines are not attached any where to the axle.

remove only the front trailer arm bolt. let the rear one alone and take it out with the axle then its comfortable to remove it.

i like to take the shock off at the upper nut not the lower bolt

once you're ready to go, use a floor jack under the pumpkin for support, replace the rear tire onto the axle and lower the unbolted assembly lower so the tires support the weight.

now you can roll it around fairly easily and with some stability
