Carburetor conversion 200 1981

I got to the end of the line with the Bosch CIS fuel injection system on my
245DL with spec. 2.1 L engine. Some had replaced their FI system with carburetors, utilizing Volvo Marine manifolds and various single barrel carburetors.
I obtained both the sidedraft and downdraft manifolds, expecting some problems with underhood clearance issues, even with all the CIS system removed.
The downdraft manifold presented some challenges with a CIS thermostat--no longer needed with a carburetor--which I had to plug and file down to enable the manifold to seat properly.
No clearance was available to use a transition plate, so I had to improvise direct mount of the selected carburetor, a Carter YF, unused in the box from the 1940s, selected because its cast iron body seemed best resistant to ethanol attack--zinc bodied carburetors have problems in that area.
Manual choke and throttle link-up were not too challenging, but as an interim measure I had to pull fuel from the tank (with a generic Delco pump) through the return line. Final set-up will place the Delco pump where the Bosch FI pump was located next to the tank along with existing intank pump filter and supply line.
Only casualties were the kick-down function (3 speed BW auto trans) and mastering manual choke again. Amazing how clean underhood a carburetor/manifold setup is compared to the CIS hardware and associated rotten wiring of the 81s. I'll add a picture later.
