Replace hand brake cable 700 1990

In the 700-900 FAQ, please see:

https://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/Brakes.htm#ParkingBrakeAdjustment

The section also describes safety, or parking brake cable replacement.

I'd not been under a 700-900-90 in sometime. I cannot recall where the safety brake cable sheathes exit from withing the sheet metal containing the passenger cabin.

Under a 240, these cable exit somewhere under and around the rear seat either side of the driveshaft tunnel, cross over each other, and travel along the rear axle tubes away from the differential to the wheel hubs. 'Cept they may not cross under a 700-900-90.

And remember, on 700-900-90, you also need to repack your rear wheel bearings with new NLGI-2 wheel bearing grease just like the front hubs!

And don't buy aftermarket brake cables. I just hope your blue box or blue label clear poly bag with your replacement brake cable says it was made in Europa or USA.

Other shall chime in with actually useful info for you.

Hope that helps.

Mac Dud.
