Can I drive 500 miles with a bad AT Tailshaft Bushing? 700 1990

Heya folks.

I replaced my carrier bearing and mount the other day and the noise is 10x what it was with the failed mount.
I took my car to a driveline specialty shop and he said that other than cheap u-joints, my driveline itself looked fine, though it might need to be rebalanced.

He then looked over the whole driveline and said that there is play in the transmission. He said bearings, I was worried, and then I remembered/saw the tailshaft bushing could cause this kind of play.
I'm in the process of moving to Portland, OR from about 450 miles south. I drove up here and it was/has been pretty durn noisy.

So here's my question - Can I drive it back home without damaging the transmission, or should I get this thing fixed before I leave town? It is pretty loud and I hear it "beating"/thrumming. The guy who told me it was big trouble told me he isn't knowledgeable about transmissions. I'm confident that it's just the tailshaft bushing - or the transmission is shot and needs to be replaced, but I don't think that's the case.

In an (I think) unrelated issue, the overdrive won't engage and the light won't turn off. The fuse/relay are fine. The dash light is illuminated even with the fuse removed. It worked fine on the drive up here, but I figured I mis-routed it and it wore through from rubbing on the driveline. I had the chance to replace a crimp under the car and rig up a hanger, which I expected to fix it. It didn't fix it, but it seems like an unrelated electrical issue. Maybe just a loose wire under the shifter.
