Yes, the shoe with the shorter lining is the leading/front shoe.

While you are in there, verify that the eccentric block is on correctly and moving freely.

The eccentric block is the part that the top of both brake shoe rides on.

I always remove them to lube the center to ensure smooth movement.

If you look closely you will see an arrow stamped into both sides of the eccentric and this arrow needs to be pointed towards the front of the car.

Besides the arrow, there may be another symbol stamped into the eccentric.

Make sure they are the same symbol as there were different styles of eccentrics.
