Hi!

My son in MN called to tell me the heater blower motor on his '91 240 sedan "just quit." Being that I'm in VA it's been a little tough to trouble-shoot. My experience with fan motor failures (at least 4 in as many cars) has been that they get noisy, etc., prior to quitting--I've never had one just suddenly stop.

I've looked at the wiring diagrams and there's not much between the fuse and the ground (switch, resistor pack, and motor).

FWIW, son's mechanical skills are limited, so I don't see him being able to check replace the switch, check for good ground, etc. So far he has tried all the speed settings on the switch and replaced the fuse, but still no fan. If it's the resistor, the fan should still work when the switch is on "4," correct?

Is there anything else he/we should be looking at, or should I just be ready to do all the trouble-shooting (and perhaps replace the fan motor, etc.) when I visit in a couple of weeks? I'm already planning on working on the car while I'm there, so I guess I'll just add this to the list . . . .
