Dual Oil Pressure Sender Problem 200 1984

My old oil pressure sender was running erratically and the gauge's needle was all over the scale. Also one of the wires to the sender broke off of its spade connector. I ordered what I thought was an identical aftermarket sender, repaired the broken wire and installed it as the old one was. But now the oil pressure idiot light doesn't light up at all - even on start-up - and the gauge is pegged to the right, even when the ignition is off.

I couldn't have crossed the wires since each spade is a different size.

According to past posts, the VDO part number for this sender is 360 009. That unit's specs are 10-180 ohms and 80 PSI max pressure. The specs for the sender I bought are identical.

All of the other gauges and idiot lights work.

Any thoughts?
