Installing new header and catalytic with donut 200 1989

1989 244DL with EGR AW70

I'm wondering what order I should install things. I have everything after the exhaust manifold removed from the car. Everything after the cat is still connected together. I have a new header and cat to install with the metal donut.

Should I connect the cat and header on the ground first and then install them? Should I bolt the cat to everything behind it install that and then fit the header pipe in? Or should I install the header to the manifold first and then connect everything after it?

I also don't really understand the donut. Is there a trick to installing it so there will be no leaks? It seems like it would be easier to install with the pipes out of the car.

Thanks!
