245 Rear Gate Glass Install 200

Hi Folks,

I need some advice on getting the replacement glass on the rear hatch of my 91 245 installed properly.

A little over a year ago I broke the hatch glass and got a used glass piece to replace it. Cleaned out the window hole of all the old black gunk and installed the new glass with the thick black 3M glass putty that comes in a ribbon (forget the product name)... Well, the glass keeps popping out slightly and dropping down until it is only held in by the rear window washer arm mount. :/

So what did I miss in the install procedure to actually secure the window? Are there clips or something that go on the bottom of the glass to keep it held up? Did I use the wrong sticky glue? Or maybe too much of it?

FYI: This is the later type glass with solid black gasket, no chrome.

I plan on removing the glass, cleaning off the glue and trying again, but was wondering if there is some trick to it I should know beforehand.

Thanks for any info.

Bert
