idle surge LH2.4 200 1991

Hi!

The car has almost 400K . . . .

I'm up here in MN (east side of twin cities) working on my son's car. So far, I have fixed a door handle, put in two new tail-light circuit boards and light bulbs, new radiator, hoses, thermostat, etc. Tomorrow is the new blower motor and resistor (pray for me).

Car also has a surging idle that I've been chasing for two days. With IAC hooked up, it cycles from 1000 to 2000 RPM about once per second. With IAC disconnected (pulled the two pole plug in the back), it cycles from about 1200 to 1300 RPM about 4 times per second. I had a new IAC on hand and tried that, but no change. I've been driving the car this PM with the IAC disconnected as it's a little easier with the smaller RPM change.

I'm planning on pulling the LH codes using the on-board diagnostics tomorrow and will post results, but was hoping that somebody here might have a hint or two . . . .

Thanks in advance!

Steve A-

BTW, I'll be looking for recommendations for a garage to help care for this car ("Inga") after I return to VA. Any experience with EURO Autowerks in Woodbury?
