Glad to hear that. In addition to being cheaper than Vancouver, Portland is smaller and more laid back than either Seattle or Vancouver. All in all a better place to begin an epic journey!

Vancouver is a terrific place - maybe my favorite city anywhere - so it is expensive for a reason...:)

One last tip - I use to gas up just before crossing the border into Canada. To economize, I tried to avoid buying gas at all in Canada.
