Intermittent SRS light, 1993 940 wagon. Non turbo 900 1993

SRS light comes on intermittently, when on, the alternator stops charging battery. Light goes out when I wiggle speedometer. I have removed speedometer, reconnected wiring. I even replaced speedometer with one identical part from junk yard. SRS light came back on after a few days of driving. Any ideas?
