Window Lift Gasket 900

Mt rear passenger window has lifted our of the Lift Tray gasket. The gasket was is old, dry and cooked. I've removed it from the tray and cleaned up the bottom of the window.

There was not enough holding power left to pull the window down when the tray dropped. So the window mechanism would go down the but the window itself would be held in place for a while by the pressure of the side guides. Then it might drop, or not.

I have the door apart. I filled the lift tray with liquid nail. The liquid nail did not set up or harden, so I've removed the tray and cleaned everything up for another try.

The liquid nail I used was not from a cartridge. It was from a smaller tube which was opened 5 years ago but the contents seemed as good a new to me. FAQs suggest silicone, but I don't want to have a repeat of my unsatisfactory experience.

I guess I could purchase the gasket (not sure how to get it - Volvo?) but I am concerned it might be difficult or impossible to fully seat the window into the lift tray while both are inside the door. If the window will slide easily into the gasket and into the tray, it will slide out just as easily, unless the gasket has some type of adhesive that will set and hold the window. I don't know how to remove the window from the door, so my approach so far has been to do everything inside the door. Except for attaching the lift tray and window tightly together, this seems to be easier than taking the window out entirely.

My experience with windows and gaskets is that you need a rug-d table or one with ta towel to work on and then a wooden mallet to set the window into the frame and gasket. Its risky work and requires some skill not to crack the window.

I'm stumped and frustrated.

Suggestions?
