Restitching leather seat seams? 700

1991 745

Even when leather has been cared for time takes a toll. The seams on the driver's seat bottom cushion have opened up. This is due to the thread breaking not dry leather ripping out along the seam. This is partly due to the fact that the seat foundation and foam have broken down over time, sagging, and putting stress on the seams.

The leather seat covers have a cloth backing that is stitched along with the leather at the seams. I would like to close up the open seams and was hoping someone here had done this before or looked into the possibility of restitching.
