AC slowly died 900 1991

I finally got the AC to work on my 91 940 this past March, by an auto AC shop that replaced the compressor with a used one. I was told that it was not great, but they got it to blow 41 degrees steadily, and they said they could find no pressure drop in the system. Fast forward to this April, when temperatures became such that I wanted AC. For the first few weeks it worked fine, but it slowly degraded to the stage that it would take up to 5 minutes before it blew cold. And finally, last week, it would not blow cold at all. The clutch seems to be activating, so I don't know what the problem is. Is this a symptom of a slow leak in the system?
The blue indicator light on the AC button worked only the first week or so. I don't know if that is indicative of anything other than a blown bulb or not.
Thanks
JD
