a few specific questions on 240s 92 245

Hiya oldduke,

Hope all's aces. Hope I can help you.

1. Disconnect the battery. You may have to wait some time for the air bag bang!capacitors to discharge or something. You want to disconnect the orange wire connector under the dash someplace under or around the steering column. You use some size TORX driver through the back of the steering wheel. You have to turn the steering wheel to gain access to the torx screws in recessed holes behind the steering wheel.

2. I dunno. You may want to contact the auto salvage yard networks and ask. You can search your brickboard.com/RWD for more info on this topic. Direct responses to your question will indicate the state of understanding on the topic. The manual transmission equipped 240 is sought after as are autos by those whom want an auto.

3. In good tune, the 240 AC should operate as well as any. You can get any components rebuilt. With US EPA training, you can work with R-12 refrigerant. Many like the R-134A conversion, though the cost can be a bother. Yet a well-performed AC system rebuild, where the system is pulled to a vacuum and keeps a seal, with anew drier, should be okay. Again, innumerable brickboard.com articles.

4. I've not read any recent arcticle about Irv Gorden and his infamous Volvo P1800. In June 2013 or 2014 he turned 3 million miles on his red P1800S.

5. These are all good questions to include into a Volvo 240 FAQ. Others already know what they keep as spare parts and what to look for. They'll chime in.

oldduke, I wish I could offer you a refreshing beverage. I'm going to get one or two at a craft brewer nearby. I got done with a project.

Hope that helps.

I may chime back in.

Hope you are all aces and eight, oldduke!

Take care and keep cool!
