Over-revving problem 200

Yes it has the 311 code, being speedo sensor not connected to ECU, as I had swapped the speedo , probably from a different year, so I will fit the one from the spare car I now have which is exactly the same as the car in question.
I knew it had the 311 code, should have mentioned it, but had not realized this could cause such symptoms.
I can see now that you say it, that the ECU must see the speed and adjust things to suit.
