door seals 120-130 1967

I'm installing new door seals on our '67 220 and to say that it laborious would be a drastic understatement. This car has the later style channel spot welded to the door frame. The manual says to use a screw driver... Poking the inner lip of the new gasket into the channel 1/8" at a time seems to be the most effective way to do it.

Anyone got any tips, tricks, tools, strategies, etc. that make this job easier ?

Second question - there is a gap in the channel at the botton of the door. Should the ends of the gasket meet there ?

Third question - should the new gasket be glued to the hinges ?

Many thanks

Greg
