You can argue anything you want....but doubtful you'd have any luck. The VIN ID's the model year -- and that dictates a number of things. Your car is a 96 model - regardless of when it was built. My 2009 WRX was manufactured in Aug. of 2008. My 1982 Volvo was manufactured in Dec. of 1981. My 2015 Honda Fit was manufactured in Aug. of 2014. Date of manufacture has no bearing on model year. Sorry.
