high rpms at speed 200

recently viewed a 92 245 auto w/172k.

engine very good shape but the drive train threw me
the owner pulled a trailer and had gearing changed they said to do that.
I don't know how they did that, other car looker said the axle was changed out.
the speedo was maxed out at 37 on highway drives, so perhaps the sensor went with old axle, thus the non working speedo.

and on the highway drive the engine turned so high it dissuaded me from purchasing after hearing that roar.i was waiting for it to shift during the 65 mph drive.
owner just had the kickdown replaced and said od worked.
owner drove it from CA to OR to ak with it like that and had no problems.

so, was wondering is that what low geared 245's sound like or is there another reason. a fix?
