How much would you pay for a NEW 2017 Volvo 240?

hi onkel- my onkel usually makes wise and helpful statements on this board and i appreciate his sagery. but i disagree with his fwd analysis. almost everything on a fwd car is more difficult and expensive to repair than on a rwd tanker. look at all the work you have to do for a clutch job in one. drop the engine/transaxle cradle. have to do a lot more disconnections than just the 4bolts referred to. shyster will charge you at least 1700 on fwd versus less than 1k on a rwd. automatics will be close to 3k or more if you go to a shyster. consider before you buy it of an internal slave cylinder removal when the thing starts leaking. toyota and honda are at least smarter by using an external hydraulic cylinder to push the clutch fork. maybe takes 15 minutes to replace that. it seems one of the secret realities of fwd cars is big expense to hire repairs out which on an rwd you could do yourself. one who is looking for a replacement car should research and determine the difficulty of repair, the hire out cost and comparative reliability(to rwd cars) of common repair parts. this hidden reality not only has put many in the er with terminal sticker shock but also is rarely if ever disclosed in consumer auto mags. i call this the pearl harbor of car repairs. do i have a bad attitude? remember what folks said after pearl. inviting your rebuttals. thanks tons oldduke
