broken tooth ? 120-130 1967

When I drained the engine oil something went 'clink' in drain pan. I found this little piece of 'phenolic' material. It kind of has the profile of a gear tooth.

Could it be a piece of the timing gear ? Anyone have experience on how long the gear might go before shattering like a chipped glass ?

Thanks

Greg

I tried following Art's directions in the fuel filter post, but the picture does not appear... https://www.brickboard.com/GALLERY/volvopic.htm?js_link=&id=12203

too big, but it kind of works. Pencil lead is 0.9mm.
