How come no limiting straps? 140-160

Before '73 140, the springs had a pigtail both ends and was bolted top and bottom, I convert my to 74 style. Pretty sure the straps in the earlier PV & 120 cars were there just to hold springs in when you jacked up the car via the body.

Why would you want to limit the rear travel with a strap?? When we ran our cars at the old Echo Valley dirt hillclimb, neither car was beaten often by anything similar. They beat ALL Datsun 1600's, XU-1's and nearly everthing else, my friend would get 3rd outright in most cases beaten onlt by the occasional Toyota GT4 or a Porsche Toad. 140's are pretty close to perfect on dirt because Sweden's roads were as bad as ours at that time.
