Daviico catalytic converter 200

I installed a Davico catalytic converter on my 1993 240 wagon exactly three years ago. Yesterday I noticed a rattle in it, today it started to make a purring sound and I noticed a substantial loss of power.

Three years seems to be an early demise, even for an after market cat. (The original lasted twenty years.) Bad product, or do I have something else going that has killed this cat before its time?

Any suggestions for a replacement? TASCA lists an OEM replacement in the $700 range - a bit steep, but if it lasts just half as long as long as the original, it might be worth it.The car may well be good for another decade, even if I am not. ;-)

BTW, this cat connects to the down pipe with the swivel connection, not the flange to flange with a gasket in between. I will have to find out if the one TASCA offers is for this set up, else I would also have to get a different down pipe as well.

I'd appreciate your input.

Bob S.
