Re-fitting a 240 sill mould 200 1992

Hi BrickBoard!

I just had our 240 fully re-sprayed after some dodgy insurance work 20-ish years ago. The inferior paint used by the Volvo approved body shop went matte after a few years and the lifetime warranty advertised by our insurer (no name mentioned) evaporated when needed. Anyway, this is not a whine but a call for assistance.

The right side sill mould needs re-fitting as only two clips were left holding it after a lengthy sojourn in this panel shop. I have bought the requisite 13 new clips but see no way of fitting them. There is a protruding bit on each clip that won’t allow them to go anywhere near the mould. There is a great pic at http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts/body/body-parts/trim-parts/trim-moulding/clip-body-trim/1027188/. The Volvo original part number is 1304520. The problem part of the clip is the bottom leg of the plus sign the clip resembles (if you squint ;-).

Does anyone have any experience using these clips? Do I need to trim this portion of the clip? I’d seriously appreciate any advice before I re-visit the panel shop.

Thanks in advance.
