Intermittent Headache. 200

A few months ago my '85 240 started acting up. On startup all is well, but intermittently, not every time, going down the road attempting to get up to speed or running up through the gears, power goes away and it won't rev over 2500. Get off the throttle and power comes back below that rpm. Feels like I'd just pulled out the choke all the way (if it had one!). I push in the clutch, turn off the ignition, restart and everything's fine. Last fall changed the O2 sensor, last winter new plugs and a temp sensor in the head. The cold start issue I mentioned last Winter never went away after the sensor replacement. Don't know if it's related. No clue what to check. If it was mechanical it should be constant and not change with a shut off and restart. What resets when turned off/restarted? It only does this once or twice a week.
