Occasional steam from vents (doesn't smell like antifreeze!!?)

Hi,

First off, I'm new to the forum but I've looked around and couldn't find this exact topic anywhere. My 87 240 wagon occasionally blows steam from the vents. I've bought a new heater core-but it's sitting in the box until I decide I really want to go through with the operation.

Full story:
I live in Seattle (rainy/wet from November to May). This past spring, I noticed that there was a small amount of fog gathered where the defrost vents hit the windows. Later, when the light hit it right, I was able to see mist escaping from the driver side window vent. All of the mist seems to happen on the driver side of the car. I was in a tight spot, so dumped in some stop leak. This seemed to slow it down, but I just drove around with the windows open and air turned off to be safe. (also AC doesn't work)

I am not a daily driver, but typically get out of town to drive 1-3 hours on the weekends. Have noticed fogging still on some drives. It may be in my head but seems to correlate with wetter days. There is no smell of antifreeze or damp spot on the floor. The coolant level is not noticeably low (almost six months after first noticing this.)

I'm wondering if there are other things I can look into before I tear out the whole dash. If there is any more information I can give let me know!

Thanks,
Dylan
