Intermintant no start 200 1993

Good morning,
This is my first time reaching out in this forum. I have a 93 240 sedan. It had only 435000 miles on her when I got it. Now I have 472500 mi. This no start happened two weeks ago and it finely started. Not this time... I have put a new fuel pump relay (under dash)in as the original was date stamped (9/92). The fuel rail has fuel but the spark is intermintant. Was told to change the sensor that goes from the firewall (plug)to the top of the auto-trans? What sensor is it and how does it effect ignition?

Thanks for any help,
