sputtering while driving now wont start 200 1983

I just bought an 83 242. The intake manifold gasket is worn and one of the stud is broke so we have those parts on the way. She sputters while driving almost like there is water in the tank and now hesitates quite badly when trying to accelerate from a stop. Now she won't start. I pulled the flame trap and it was completely clogged, have one on order in case I can't clean the original. Also pulled the throttle body off and cleaned that out as well. I tried to start and she sounded better but still no start. I also tried unplugging the mass air flow sensor and still no start. Ideas?
