AC and cruise control 900 1993

Two seemingly unrelated problems arose recently. I think they may be related.
1. When going uphill and press the accelerator with AC on, the airflow from dash vents almost stops until reaching top of a hill, back off on the accelerator and air flow resumes. Seems like the fan is operating properly but vents inside ducts are closing either partially or completely.

2. When going uphill with cruise control engaged, sometimes, but not always, car speed slowly drops but transmission does not kick down. If the accelerator pedal is pressed, transmission kicks down and speed increases.

My guess is there is a small vacuum leak in a hose that is causing vent flaps inside air ducts to close and causing cruise control to malfunction.

How can I check for vacuum leaks and any idea where to look. Thanks for any help
