This is the reward for working so hard on the brick.
I went to Virginia International Raceway for the Blue Ridge Chapter of the VCOA Oct 17. On the way my GM alternator crapped out and I returned home to swap it out. I was only 1 hour late.
There was a great skid pad set up to test out the car with. A lot of fun. We ran it wet and dry. The only car beating me was a tricked out 945. The old brick did well. I had not finished tuning my Megasquirt 'puter and was limited to 6000 rpms. I was missing the 7200 redline. It cost me seconds for sure having to downshift.
Then we got to do 15 laps on the road racing course.
We were limited to 55 mph. What happened though we would let the pace car get ahead and 3-4 of us would go tearing through the course to catch up. My car is really set up. My only regret is I did not think to raise my tire pressures. You can actually feel the tire giving when on a tight curve. The 945 and the newer 50 grand cars did not have a thing on me in this situation. I am sure they had more power, but the 142 set up low can really track the course. I was not able to push as fast as she wanted to go in the curves cuz we could not pass. Passing those newer cars on the inside would have been cake.
So once you get your brick up to snuff, go have some fun with your fellow brickheads at your local club meeting.
