Replacement for reverse light relay (Bosch SR803) 120-130

A relevant bump I hope

I wanted to keep the original 3 pin backup light relay for my 71 140. The relay was actually labeled Overdrive and dated 1/71 made in Germany. I dont have a relay for my overdrive, I hear the J types do not need one. I opened up the can to see what was inside.

The can is made of soft metal. Pry away the can from around the brown base plate, all the way around. The relay pops out. I cleaned up the points with 220 sandpaper. The two solder points looked substantial and secure.

I cleaned the points and hooked it up to power and to a ground. The output pole only gave me 0.3 volts. Above the points it was 12.3V and below the points it was 0.3 volts. Full contact of the points was prevented by the swinging arm stop. I moved the lower point tower up and full contact was then made when the points closed.

I replaced the cover, pressed in the edges and re installed in my car. The new LED backup lights could light up a football field now.
