1993 245 Running really bad

OK Gents,

I had a dash light on so I pulled the code and it was for the coolant sensor (2 blade). I ordered one off Amazon and went to put it in and dropped it into the abyss, never found it.

I put the old one back in and no more light. It ran pretty good after that.

Forward 3 days and the car is running like it's on three cylinders. Let it run 5 minutes and it runs better but not like it should or has in the past.

When engaging the starter the engine seems like it's rotating backwards momentarily. The starter will bog down significantly then the engine will start, barely.

Because of this I thought it may be the timing belt so I adjusted the tensioner. Not the problem.

I disconnected the MAF thinking it may be the problem. Tried to start the car and it would not start. Plugged it back in and it ran the same as before. Bad.

Hopefully someone knows what's up.

Thanks in advance,
HACK
