retrieving float ball for fuel sender unit 200 1987

You know what happened, the sender unit was almost out and the float ball popped off and disappeared into the tank. It is not in the central well, but somewhere in the outer reaches of the tank.

Does anyone have a technique for fishing it out of the tank ?
