fuse 14 blowing, my fix 900

See related photo

Fuse #14 started blowing as soon as I turned the ignition key in my 940 wagon, no rear wiper or power mirrors.

I took the tailgate interior trim off, checked the wiring for obvious signs of a short.

Then checked the tailgate wiring harness where it enters the car above the headliner.

The harness is routed in an S-bend around the left tailgate hinge and held by a black plastic bracket, then enters the car through a water barrier panel.

I found signs of scorching on the S-bend wiring insulation, wrapped the harness with electrical tape and added a cable tie to the existing plastic bracket.

There is also a cable guide (just behind the water barrier panel) that pivots to control movement of the harness. It was moving freely.

When the weather warms up, I will unwrap the harness at the scorched spot and repair any burned insulation.
