1998 S90 Rear Shock Removal and Replacement S90-V90 1998

Rear shocks on S/V90 are ridiculously easy. Jack up the rear and support with Jack stands. Two bolts. That's it. Literally a 5 min job per side.

1. Use floor jack to lift car from rear differential. Support with Jack stands at rear jack points.
2. Remove road wheel.
3. Remove body plug in wheel arc to expose upper mounting bolt. Spray bolt with penetrating oil although it won't be that rusty. Remove bolt.
4. Spray lower mounting bolt with penetrating oil and remove. Pull shock off mounting stud.
5. Reinstall is the reverse of removal. The shock fits one way, direction was indicated on my Sachs units. Install the upper bolt first. You can use the floor jack to compress the shock/suspension as needed for proper alignment on the trailing arm mount. Torque spec is in the neighborhood of 63 ft pounds. Use a little antisieze on the reinstall.

Really quite simple. Impact wrench makes it quicker but is unneeded.
