Voltage at coil and to Distributor connector but no spark 200 1988

I'm not knowledgeable of the ignition system on the '88. So here goes

Friend of a friend has an '88. No spark at plugs. With almost no documentation we think it's the Hall affect in the distributor but I thought I'd task for your thoughts.
Assuming all the butchered wiring under the hood is all working. Everything seems good with the exception of spark at the plugs. We are getting 12V at pin 'A' or is it '1' at the connector going into the distributor yet no spark to plugs. My seat of the pants conclusion is the internal Hall affect in the distributor. Any other thoughts or things to check to help me help them would be appreciated.
