K-JET WUR / CPR Adjustment Question 200 1979

Hello, today I cleaned my warm up regulator on my 242 and I must say it runs way better no more starting issues so far and am getting a lot more response out of the car, probably from running lean prior to cleaning the WUR, had a bit of corrosion inside.

Anyway my question is whats the deal with all of the "shims" I had read before I tore down the regulator. Mine is the 438 140 004 so whats up with the shims everyone is talking about for adjustment, I am trying to understand more about this so any info is very helpful.

I also read about moving the post that holds the arm to adjust but that seems a little odd.

Thanks
