780 Crank Position Sensor 700 1991

Hello. My car suddenly would not start and I had it towed to my mechanic. It is a 1991 780 Coupe. My mechanic traced the issue to no spark and ordered a new Crank position sensor, though it does not match the one I have currently in the car. He says that mine has 2 plugs on one end and one on the other end. When he called the Volvo dealer in town they said that the correct part should only be one plug on each end.

Does anyone know what is going on here and if in fact there is a part out there that has the 2 plug connector do you know the part number? He says that it appears that the part that has gone bad looks original and not something that someone just rigged. I mean he says that it looks like both ends actually plug into something so one of the connectors is not just hanging there loose or anything.

Any help is much appreciated because he/we are stuck until I can get the part. Much thanks.
